A new Samsung cleaning robot offers an unprecedented feature in its genre: voice command. You can boss around a Samsung POWERbot VR7000 with your own voice through an Amazon Echo.
Coming in as a run up to 2017 CES, the new POWERbot is slimmer than anything Samsung has put out before at just under four inches tall. Despite recent safety concerns over hacking, Samsung proudly brags in a press release that the POWERbot is Internet of Things-compatible. It also adjusts its motor and suction capabilities depending on the floor surface it’s on.
The real standout is going to be the voice control—how users can command the POWERbot to pick a specific spot, set up a time to clean, or anything else through an Echo. Amazon has been working on letting the Echo become accessible through all parts of a house, releasing the Dot earlier this year to improve its range.
The POWERbot will be on display at CES. Of course, you could always just build your own cleaning robot.
